Default Forget Pay Cuts, CK out APA

American pilots have negotiated a pretty decent deal, no pay cuts..

To summarize:

Pilots pay protected for COVID-19 quarantines for duration. Includes self-quarantines for sick family member. Sick bank restored for COVID-19 diagnosis.

1. Voluntary unpaid Leave of Absense, retain all benefits and accrue Length of Service, up to 12 months.

2. Voluntary Short-Term LoA, paid 55 credited hours, 1/3/6 months long, retain all benefits, 401k/profit sharing eligible, required to maintain currency but that’s it.

3. Voluntary Permanent LoA, age 62+ paid 50 hours until age 65, retain all benefits and 401k, etc as above, remaining sick deposited into HSA.

Looks like a helluva job by APA and AA.

That seems like a pretty good deal if it helps stop the cash being burned day to day. In fact, for those that have 15-20 years left, it would be a really good deal to take a little pay cut for a short time and have a couple thousand guys off the seniority list at the upper end.

Why would anyone take option 1 when the other two are amazing?

I’d jump on option 2 in a heartbeat. I’ve got a hookup on a job that pays a lot less than what I make now, but if that were supplemented by 55 hours of wide body FO pay, I’d be bringing home more than I do now.

It’d go senior.

All of the airlines that negotiated coronavirus letters traded the re-bid of April bids for benefits such as sick leave and extended reduced lines.

We just gave the re-bid of April away. And while we got a MOU later, it's not as good. Wonder why?

This is response to old news. They probably balled this into the trash after today’s news cycle. We aren’t at the bottom on “plans”

I would jump on option one with military orders, as it wouldnt count against USERRA sanctuary time and would get me closer to a full retirement. Option 2 aside from just being immoral I’m pretty sure wouldn’t be legal under the same circumstances.

I dont see why it would be immoral to take #2 for mil leave. I also dont think it would be immoral if someone took that leave and worked their second job as a *fill in the blank*. why would working in the military be any different? ( honest question from a civilian) I can see the benefit to not counting against ussera times but would you honestly want to be away from the airlines for 5 years straight if u did not have to be? cheers

would this deal survive a bankruptcy proceeding?
