So here is how this will play out. Towns will sporadically be shut down and then opened then shut down etc for months to come. Each time they are clear of the virus they will open for busines and low and behold the virus will come back. This will just lengthen the economic pain with very little relative social gain. (Substitute town for city etc)

It appears obvious to me that we can have the best of both worlds.... Save the economy and save the oldies. Simply put those aged 60 and above in quarantine...hell most of those 60 and above dont spend much and they dont earn much so the impact is way less on the economy. Let this virus sweep through the healthy population allowing health systems to cope.

Then when the wave passes and most people have had it allow the oldies to come back out into the sunshine.

just like this

'Solution? Quarantine those that are at high risk and let the economy continue without quarantining those that are not likely to have poor outcomes should they catch coronavirus.'

I can pretty much guarantee that after the ink blots of virus keeps popping up that this is what societt will end up moving to. ...unless we get a vaccine first.

Put the boomers in concentration camps and infect all the millennials at the same time. This would be over in less than a month.
