Ok. Now go convince everyone to start buying airline tickets immediately. Good luck. Because that's what it's about. The manpower moves we have made have ZERO to do with mortality rate. It has everything to do with the airline ticket buying publics perception.

I’m pre 9/11, so yeah, I’ve seen this before. I’ve been furloughed, downgraded, and everything else. Although we’re taking a beating right now, I don’t see travel disruptions due to a virus lasting long enough to justify a furlough. This is something like SARS, not 9/11. People need to take a deep breath and chill. The storm will pass.

Actually the impact is more like 9/11. We didn't stop flying to destinations during SARS. Not even for a few days. Now we're talking months.
The storm will pass. But it's not even overhead yet. It's still approaching.

I too live through 9/11, age 65, 2007 financial collapse, flowbacks. This is nothing like those events That all hit within a decade of each other.

You can start with all flights halted for almost two weeks after 9/11. The demand shock alone from that event dwarfs this coronaflu. Not to mention the attitudes of people saying they will never get on another airplane.

But two months later our Pacific traffic is down 75%. Our Europe traffic is getting hit and we will announce reductions to Europe flying. I think you think that the shock from corona has peaked. It hasn't. Asia is one thing. Europe and domestic, through the summer, and possible cancelation of the Olympics is a serious problem. Like I said, the storm isn't even overhead yet. You think the emails we got today will be the last bad news? It won't. Those letters were steps 3 and 4 in a 10 step process that you and I know all too well about. It's happening.

We can warn others (that don't see it or refuse to believe what's going on right in front of them) so that they take the necessary precautions.
