If planes are getting parked plan on the F word to follow soon! Airlines don't pay people to sit home long term and not fly. That happened after 9/11 because no one knew when the passengers would return. Airlines didn't adjust quick enough and burned cash at rates that forced Chapter 11. Best thing that could happen is people don't watch TV and go live their lives!! It's just the Flu!

That's great. You're in a good place. It doesn't impact me, yet, but those cancelled bids represent dollars that you'll never get back. Now I know you'll say money isn't everything. It isn't. But its a big deal. To most anyway. It's not something that represents us being in forward gear.

I spelled out was I was talking about. You mentioned "guarantee" furloughs. You probably went back to look for a quote and you couldn't. I didn't guarantee furloughs. But I know things will get much worse before they get better. And IF we park airplanes and displace people while giving out surplus lines in every single fleet then yes, it could lead to furloughs.
We have 367 retirements in the next year. But if we're giving out COLA, surplus, and vacation in every single seat then we're more than 367 fat. You see? We have 367 retirements in the next 365 days and still canceled 213 vacancy bid awards. That doesn't raise your antenna?
Instead of telling me I'm doom and gloom I'd like for someone to point to somewhere in our history where similar action was taken and we haven't ended up at that conclusion. Show me where I'm wrong. Where is my error?
So I'm not saying furloughs are guaranteed. Not now. Not previously. But these steps lead in that direction. hopefully it doesn't get that far.
BTW I heard that some new hires that got in before the cancelled class, that were awarded 756, have been moved to the 320. What's that tell you? Either a draw down in 756 airframes/block time or manpower predicting that if there is a displacement they will be even fatter in the 756 FO seat.

This deal is like being in a marriage that hits a rough patch of road. You may think that the end is near, but it’s not. Just as in the marriage analogy, when it comes to airline furloughs, the old saying that it’s cheaper to keep her rings true.
