Exactly. Show up for work, have fun, and don't buy into the hype and all the rumors. Many of us have been here before. Act like it. Take care of your crew, beside you and behind you.

Lemonade from Lemons
The possible good thing I alluded to before my “time out” in the corner, is how this worked out.
A class of new hires got a strong dose of the downside of airline career at United before their first prop. Then a bunch started complaining what a crummy company/ management we have,(lemons), Then a few of us turned it into something notable and dignified. That Gofund me page popped up and these newbies were being taken care of by total strangers whose uniforms they had planned to wear. Many on here contributed and dug pretty deep.
That’s powerful and will be remembered far longer that the sour taste of a class cancel short notice. I can tell you that on other forums, United Pilots are being talked about and admired for what we’ve done... individual pilots who really care and don’t need a union message or management a CORE4 lessons. Just plain common compassion.
Good on you.

Last week, United abruptly instituted a Company-wide hiring freeze and postponed a class of 23 new hire pilots. Although we wish the circumstances around this proactive postponement were different, we understand why the Company made this sudden decision. Quite simply, in light of this situation, United management has an overwhelming obligation to protect and preserve the enterprise and the existing 100,000 employees. Whether real or perceived, COVID-19 is having adverse effects on our industry. These are the reasons United management is taking these aggressive steps.
Hours after this class postponement, Master Chairman Captain Todd Insler personally contacted all 23 members of the class. Although we offered assistance, many of these pilots respectfully declined. The majority do not want or need assistance (fiscal or otherwise), but both have been made available to them regardless.
Working closely with the Company, we found two of our express carriers that will take any of the members of the class that need employment immediately, without necessitating an interview. Additionally, we were able to negotiate large cash signing bonuses with the carriers for any pilot that avails themselves of this opportunity. If any members of the class desire, they can be in class as soon as this coming week. Ultimately, many of the pilots are returning to their previous positions (military and civilian), and some were able to secure better jobs than before.
We look forward to the day this group of professional pilots will join our ranks.

I was in the March 3rd class and was told the Saturday before that it was postponed. Friday, the day before, was my last day with my regional. I was unable to go back at this time due to the halt in training. Hopefully I can go back when flying amps back up? But honestly I do not know. No health benefits but I definitely appreciate the United pilot group for starting a GoFundMe. That will help SO MUCH and hopefully it comes soon. Not exactly how I want to start a 40 year career at my dream airline but it is what it is....

Thanks for reaching out. Sad but true, people have a short memory... sorry for your current situation, you’re clearly in a younger age bracket and will hopefully be able to see the value of living within your means as you go through your career and also the value of having a safety net and then educating the younger folks when you’re a grey hair. Hope you’re with us sooner than later. All we who donated can ask is to pay it forward. Best wishes!
