At the time China had 1,975 "known" cases, a leaked video of a nurse claimed the actual number of cases was 90,000. Could that be fake, possibly, but if it's real and the Chinese government was trying to save face, it presents a bigger problem for the rest of the world- what other information are they withholding.

Reuters reported that 500M were quarantined/affected in China by policies restricting movement.

I think it's a little more serious than was first believed. Time will tell how bad it's going to get.

The flu is spread throughout the community. This is still somewhat contained so much less exposure. Do the math.

Has to go through trials, at least 12 months until available for widespread use, more likely 18 months.

Hopefully the anti-viral that is being tested will work.

I dunno Joe, you think maybe that nationally televised press conference was really “fake news”, and part of a national news conspiracy like the lunar landing. Is your tin foil hat getting a little tight?

The infection rate will rise more rapidly as more people catch and spread the disease. It has already demonstrated that between the length of time it can stay alive on surfaces outside the body and make you contagious for up to two weeks before showing symptoms that it’s much more infectious than the flu.

To put it into pilot terms- coronavirus is basically spreading like compound interest builds in a 401k. The

Why do I feel a Chinese nurse is as about as reliable as a flight attendant or the LHR van driver? Truth probably lies somewhere in between regarding actual numbers in China.

That is just an anti viral med they used to treat Ebola. It isn’t anything new and it may not even work. They just “think” it may help. It is also used to treat it once you get it. No vaccine has been produced yet. Even if they came up with a vaccine in the next month (unlikely) you and I won’t be able to get a shot at a local health department until next year.

Better hope you are healthy, get it earlier so there is room in a hospital, and get ready for a real ****ty two weeks if you catch it. My biggest concern is getting it at work, it knowing I have it, and infecting my family before I have symptoms.
