Now, more than EVER.. we need to hold the Line.

It's bad enough that hundreds of Trans States Pilots are about to get screwed. Losing years of Quality of Life, Seniority and Pay to maybe start over at Express Jet. But to give OUR aircraft to a non union carrier?

ENOUGH

So, since I know that some of our union officials read these posts-
ANY change to 1-C-1-g where we allow additional 76 seaters WITHOUT a NSNB aircraft on property will not only garner a NO vote from me, I will do everything possible to see that individuals are recalled.

For 8 years now the company HAS had a way to increase the 76seat count. They have refused to follow a provision within our Joint Contract.
Now they are helping to shut down a fellow ALPA Pilot Group while transferring United Holding bought aircraft to a non union carrier?
W T F

Simple.
Order the E195E2 and at the same time, offer EVERY Trans States Pilot an interview. Then, when those pilots who pass the interview are placed in the E195E2, you can also add so more 76seaters to whoever you like.
I would love to see those 76seaters go to a Unionized pilot group, but you can only fight so many battles at the same time~

To all my fellow UAL pilots-
Please, start taking about this stuff on layovers. The company obviously has a long range plan and it involves getting more 76 seaters while making our life tougher AND at the same time, doing what they can to hurt our union.. be it mainline or regional.
Guys (and Gals). Start saving a little money for the rainy days ahead. READ the contract. Read the DYK. Talk about this stuff among your fellow pilots.
Do NOT do any work action. Just the contrary- just do YOUR job. Do it per our negotiated contract.

I hear you, but I don't think ALPA hears you.

You’re acting like the transfer of aircraft from an ALPA carrier to a nonALPA carrier is new.
GoJet was founded as a non ALPA/management run union carrier to undercut TSA pilots during contract talks. Both are owned by TSH.
Aircraft were transferred from the old ASA to SkyWest as SkyWest shut down the ALPA side of flying. The AS and EV tail numbers at SkyWest used to be flown by ALPA pilots. Fortunately, the pilots were able to work out a joint contract with XJT and they merged. The only ALPA carrier to throw the ASA pilots a preferred interview was Kalitta Air.
No one cared then and in a year or so no one will care about this round. The non ALPA pilots from SkyWest and GoJet will still have as good if not a better shot at getting hired at UAL than the pilots at ALPA UAX carriers.

Do you disagree with the pizza analogy?
You can make a pizza so cheap no one will want to buy it. Yes I do agree with that. if my kids want to go to cici's pizza or incredible pizza, my answer is no.

Gordon knew how to work a crowd, and talk the panties off of any female in the room. Used to visit the cockpit with a scotch in his hand and a girl on his knee. He had a great memory. he always remembered your name and could always make a personal connection. Master story teller and a great gift of relating to groups as well as individuals. could talk to a garbage man and a fortune 500 CEO and both would relate.

His analogies were usually accurate. He only wanted the company to run cheap so he and his bonus buddies could make the loot.

Perfect description. He would also talk to everyone from passengers in the gate area to the fuel and ramp guys, something jerkoffs like Smisek view as beneath them.

The tsa 145s are the xr’s. 36 xr that ExpressJet can operate as xr’s (they used to be theirs) and activate the ventral tank and flip the lr/ xr switch. Plus the best w/b program in the emb world. They will be first on the renovation list plus WiFi entertainment. ExpressJet used to have the most reliable fleet until Skywest. Maybe that will come back. Waiting on the commuteair merge announcement.

Only time we care is when we ask for a jumpseat, while the crew will be on the streets within a year. We all like to talk the talk.

I sincerely hope that if Commutair and Expressjet merge, Commutair gets brought up to XJT’s level instead of dragging XJT down in the sewer. Commuting on XJT is night and day compared to Commutair.

Dude (if you are a male.. and if not- oops!)
I was AT Trans States when that went down.
I was a proponent of the NO Vote when we voted to accept GoJet into Trans States. It came with 70 seaters being flown at 50 seat scale. (I was Sec Tres of our LEC.. ). No Way. The Vote did not pass! And I'm happy with that.
I had a long one on one conversation with Duane Woerth about this issue. It went back to Freedom Airlines and USAirways. I also had a long conversation with individuals with TSA Management.
It is what it was..

Once the 70 seaters got their noses under the tent flap, the battle started going south.
Problem is.. ALPA National didn't want to fight that battle then. It also seems that it doesn't want to fight that battle now?!

So now I wonder-
Will ALPA National be happy that they are losing those union dues?
or will they be ok with it as the Trans States Pilot group might not have brought in the same amount they took out?

With regards to 76 seat aircraft
Kinda simple-
We Buy them, We Fly them.

Been in this game a short 20 years. But in that time, I keep hearing the same thing-
We Will Get Them NEXT Time.
I also keep seeing the that same thing-
A union carrier goes under and a non union carrier grows.

Enough already.

Always

I know. I was in the regional industry when it went down. Barely a peep from ALPA, but I would get Norwegian Air mailings and emails almost on a weekly basis. Same with the transfer of airframes from ASA to SkyWest. We had a transfer clause to prevent that, but the MEC chairman signed it away.
Oh well.
