Default How Long Till I Get to ORD

First off, I apologize if this is a thread already. Now on to the question... How long has the most junior person based at O’Hare been on property? My goal is to get to Chicago eventually so I am curious how long it will take and what aircraft will get me there fastest? Thank you in advance.

Junior pilot on the 737 is about 200 from the bottom (so a few months). Junior pilot on the 320 is about 500 from the bottom( a few more months).

What the future holds, who knows???

There won't be any new vacancies for months. Keep your base trades in though.

If hiring and growth continues I'd wager less than six months. Long term problem is that ORD is stagnant and increasingly senior so even when you get there the quality of life will only improve slowly. The wildcards are the Coronavirus and MAX grounding. If the economy goes into reverse after you make it onto the property, you might end up waiting upwards of a couple of years. Frankly, right now I'd be surprised if we don't enter a recession within the next 12 months. Too many red flags out there. Get your app in ASAP. As for aircraft, 737 is probably the better bet due to sheer fleet size.

As soon as you get a line in SFO or EWR drop as many of your trips as possible. Then do Out Of Base Pickups in ORD if you live closer to ORD. You can pickup ORD trips anytime after 1300 the day prior.

Took me 18 months on the 320. Friend in a new hire class managed it within 4 months on the Guppy.

There is a new hire on the 737.

I was hired in March of 2017 and it took me 8 months.

8/13/19 new hire date. On the 320 and I still can’t hold ORD. I knew going in that it would be awhile

The unfortunate thing about doing this is that it allows the company to NOT staff the base appropriately. In theory, you are contributing to your own problem by doing this.
(the trips get covered, and no vacancy needs to be created to do so)
