Realistic Expectations
Hi everyone,
I know that the average TT/TPIC/part 121 time upon hire has probably been answered already, but I was wondering if you guys would be able to give me your thoughts on my situation.
I’m currently in the process of converting my Canadian ATPL to an FAA ATP (before you ask, yes I am a US citizen) and I’m wondering how low my expectations of getting a call back from United or any major airline for that matter should be? I currently have around 3000TT, 1500 Turbine, 500TPIC and a degree. I don’t have any part 121 time as I’ve only flown for Canadian airlines.
Basically I’m wondering what the average TT at hire is and how important the part 121 and 1000 TPIC is to getting passed the initial screening? Depending on which is important, would you suggest staying in Canada and building more TPIC or going to a regional for a couple years to gain some part 121 time?
Thanks in advance for the insight!
