Then when we hit our first bump, he will be the first one looking for greener pasture. No company is perfect, just stick it out.

The A Plan alone at FedEx is worth the risk of having a few rough years. If its Ameican, well... There's no fixing that mess.

Be careful how you spins this, do not speak poorly of any previous employer.

As Amazon transitions to their own planes and trucks, both UPS and FedEx will lose market share. Thus one factor in the stock hits.

I do hear that flying for Amazon is not that good. Anyone with direct knowledge?

FWIW, nobody actually flies for **Amazon** as all the pilots are employed by one of several subcontractors so the pay and QOL is dependent on the specific operator.

By all accounts the largest one, Atlas, has well below average pay/benefits and the pilots have been mired in contract talks for waaaay too long.

For comparison, the hourly rate of a senior Atlas 767 CA matches that of senior UA 737 FO.

So let’s assume you are trying to leave American.

Why? In 2018 you would have probably been better off. About 1000 pilots jr to you and over the next 10 years approximately 6000 retirements plus let’s say 1500 pilots growth (anyone’s guess of the actual growth numbers). You would be a captain on all NB plus 757/767 and maybe if we keep getting widebody aircraft very JR WBCA......Now at American you are 12-18 months in and over the next 10 years approximately 8000 retirements and you are probably just about 1000 off the bottom.

You are chasing an idea.....you are not going to be furloughed unless a major change to retirement age. You are in a good spot even if your airline is going through a rough spot. I would sit tight. Enjoy your ride up the list.

I think you have a very a good shot at getting the call again. You might even be able to email whoever you previously talked too to give your app the nudge. I would update airline apps before sending that email and as always be humble. Life circumstances change but you might need to give a reason why United wasn't possible before. I wouldn't mention company stability or financial performance as a deciding factor. This party will eventually end and todays stock market darling could be tomorrows laggard.

Well I think FedEx will have no problem replacing the small temporary void Amazon left. E-commerce is much bigger than Amazon. Remember they just signed long term deals with Walmart and Target. Most of their business at this point is Business to Business. Brown and Purple will be just fine in the long run. This is like running from the Legacy airlines bc Frontier and Spirit are growing like gangbuster. Their is plenty of load in both those markets (passenger and cargo) for numerous airlines to be successful.
