I wear an, “Acquired, not hired” sticker proudly

Most guys would feel a bit envious/jaded internally that they weren’t as lucky as those. It’s human nature. But like you said that’s life. In this industry it’s better to be lucky than good.

Looks like I came off as more of victim than I intended. Let's forget the entitled part and answer the question if the merger rumor is true?
Bottom line, should JetBlue pilot with CJO with United stay and wait for the merger?

This has got to be trolling. No pilot is this dumb. Yeah, stay at JB just in case there's a merger, because it would sure suck to lose a few years seniority at United if JB gets bought and people you used to work with jump you. Looks like Bus CA is about to come down to 4 years at UAL. But by all means, turn down that CJO and stay at JB. Rich!

Serce, There is no way to positively know a merger is coming. You are probably too young to remember the guaranteed and announced merger of US Air and UAL. You saw how that turned out.

Doesn't matter if it does happen, because even if you lose seniority, you still have Years of Seniority at UAL, which your PAY is based off of. Once you hit 2nd year pay, you are doing just fine! And all the movement through growth and retirement, which Jet Blue won't have.

I actually had a similar background , over for years at Jetblue and left for United about 3 years ago .

Couldn’t say the merger would ever happen , but never say never .

As far as those who think the DOJ would NEVER allow it .

The DOJ is for sale just like any branch of our government ... sure they would make airlines swap and move stuff around to appear fair . But money controls all at the end of the day ...

Again I don’t say likely , but wouldn’t be that surprised if it happened one day. IMo, it would happen when times are tougher tho , easier excuse to justify the merger ... we need XYZ airline tk stay competitive etc .

Thank you for replies. After going through all them I realized how stupid my post was. I had two friends call me today telling me not to go and I started to second guess myself. United was always the goal, I should have waited a bit longer before posting on emotional basis.
