I learned a long time ago that life is much less stressful if you don't get all worked up about stupid stuff that you can't control.

I am fully aware that luck is the biggest part getting the interview.... I guess, so is getting the job through a merger.

i highly doubt a merger between them two will ever happen

My guess goes to SWA and spirit
Frontier and united
Alaska and JB

If a consolidation mania starts which even that is almost impossible

I guess go to Delta so you never have the chance to find out. Seriously, there’s nothing you can do about it or control now. Just look at the history of airline mergers.... it’s out of our hands.

Is that how a United guy feels for a 1700 hr newhire ex-CFI flying a UA 737 now? Those who went above and beyond versus those who didn’t? What does it matter? They’re on the seniority list the same as you. Giving up 4 yrs seniority to start over is a risk, albeit a calculated risk. If United buys JetBlue and in the SLI he is junior to his former self, that’s tough luck and just called life. Coming on here and talking about job fairs and volunteer work reeks of an entitlement for a United job, and the worry that JetBlue pilots may just get “handed” a United job.

Mergers - it really does bring the best out in pilots

So how do you feel about a 2007 Continental hire next to a 1999 United? How was their legwork? Remember the day when management came in and asked how you felt about merging with Continental, and whether you wanted to approve that or not?

If it happens I’ll draft up one of those cool stickers that Delta guys had during their merge. Something along the lines of “Hired, not acquired”. That way you can let all those JetBlue pilots know how you feel about their presence on campus.

What about those that were both? Yes, there are a few were hired by Continental in 2005-2007 that were furloughed from United in 1999-2001. Don’t hear much from them.It is a crazy industry....
