Again, you answered your own question. I don't wish ill will on the pilots. I think JB management needs to get spanked as they jump into bed with the ME3 willingly.

Did I stutter? Also, we can throw Norwegian into that discussion as well. It's as if your management wants to kill the US airline industry with codeshares.

So the real question is: Why are we still talking about this?

Members are ready to go fisticuffs over complete conjecture of how an imaginary event will unfold.

My kids are grown and have left the house and are all doing well, but when they were young I taught them from a very early age that rule number one is:

Life is not fair.

You are right; I did not get furloughed, but getting furloughed wasn't about something that wasn't "fair" and neither was there anything "fair" about the industry consolidation. These are just facts that happened to our industry and are likely to happen again. When the next downturn occurs and pilots are furloughed and some carriers go bankrupt while others consolidate there will be nothing "fair" about that either.

Living in the past and looking at a furlough or a merger as having been not "fair" is not going to change anything nor is it likely helpful to ones overall happiness. The fact is the merger has made us far stronger as an industry and given some pilots increased job security. That is the reality today, and how I choose to look at the past. I know many people who turned their furlough time into opportunities at the FAA, Boeing, the military, and other carriers including Jetblue. Being furloughed wasn't fair or unfair, it was just a part of your career as it was and will be a part of thousands of other pilot careers.

JetBlue guy here.

I was furloughed from a major after 9/11 and came to JetBlue. There are hundreds like me here. I didn’t go back because by final recall I was very senior at JetBlue, was sick of flying overseas(hate red eyes), and my major did not give years of service while furloughed. That of course came back in the subsequent merger.

I only bring this up because of the myriad of comments on here suggesting JetBlue pilots can’t get jobs at the legacies. Not only can we, but we did and chose not to go back. My personal nightmare is that we get bought by a legacy and I end up junior to my old number. Quality of life is everything to me and I have it here. If we get bought, I don’t want your wide body seat. I also don’t want some junior United pilot taking my narrow body seat or pushing me down the list and taking my QOL in the last 10 years of my career. We have no control though and I would expect you guys to fight the good fight as will we.

This is a hilarious thread; now that the juicer FA-originated gossip has run its course over on the juicer subforum, some juicers have moved over here to give Biggie Smalls CPR.

Ironic that one of the juicin' multiposters here wrote this on the juicer subforum thread a month ago:

I don't care that juicers post here; I just find it funny that one complains about a United pilot posting on 'their' forum, then posts multiple times in the United subforum.

I did find these youtube videos of juicers doing everything they can to make this gossip a reality:

I'll leave you juicers with an applicable Judy Tenuta clip:

Your post perfectly sums up why I hope a merger with you guys never happens. I can’t imagine spending a 4 day (or a single leg, frankly) with such a classy guy who has so much ill will toward fellow pilots and resorts to name calling on the internet to show his disdain for 4,000 pilots who have done literally nothing other than wear a blue shirt to work.

Also, JB guys don’t complain about UAL guys posting on the JB forum. They complain about UAL guys coming and crapping on JB and JB pilots, talking about hypothetical staple-ish jobs, etc (you know, the same stuff said in this thread).

You think I'm insulting you and your fellow juicers? Is it because I used the word, 'juicer'? Is that something that only juicers can call each other (because you guys call each other that frequently).

You need to find a safe space buttercup because when pointing out the idiocy of this FA gossip is considered insulting, it tells me you're overly sensitive and view any comments that run contrary to your beliefs as microaggressions.
Don't worry about merging with us; it won't happen.

That quote from your fellow juicer was to someone who didn't mention anything about a staple job. He pointed out how dumb it was that your fellow juicer discussed a future slowing down of Yonited pilot retirements. But sure, reframe it however you like.

A “juicer” is a term applied to those who carry the company’s water (ie drink the blue juice) and tend to act contrary to the ways a union pilot ought to act and work against the pilot group. This is a small percentage of JB pilots, so referring to all of us, including those of us who do union work and try to better our pilot group and airline, as “juicers,” is a bit of an insult. Especially by some Internet tough guy with a legacy superiority complex who often drifts into the JB forums to take a dump on fellow ALPA pilots. Happy new year homie.

Do JetBlue pilots still clean the cabin and cross seatbelts between flights? It's demeaning to the pilot profession and that history of such behavior is a big reason why I don't have issues with using the term juicer liberally.

And the fact that more than a few of your group are still running with this silly FA gossip of a merger after so many years is comedy gold. After watching the required divestitures from previous mergers, how one would possibly think that the #1 and #3 airlines by passenger count in the NYC MSA would be allowed to merge without divesting a very large chunk of NYC assets is pretty feebleminded.
