The max and probably the NG too. The 900 is really a 757 replacement. If airline MGT. had not demanded these too new design would have been more efficient.

So easy but that doesn’t explain the adventures PIs sometimes witness in the sim.

It’s a sweet gig. We seem to be hiring very qualified people who are willing to learn what is required. They’ll do fine anywhere they bid providing that they get adequate training. Everyone was new to international flying at one point, and the training here is pretty good. They’ll be fine, and IRO for a looong time.
I did the 777 for three years and was miserable, couldn’t wait to hold CA on the 737, I’ll never go back. Great flying airplane, good life experience but I’ve never felt so terrible before, I could really see the sleep deprivation affecting my health. Glad some guys like it....Plus the 737 pay bump is very nice!!!

That’s what happens when you camp out in the back seat for a decade. Not everyone is like that but I’ve seen some weird **** myself from guys who don’t fly much.

Pay bump? I’m not sure I’m really making much more doing the NBCA thing vs the WBFO. I am making more per hour, but usually not per trip.

I’d agree. It’s great to be able to bid what you like. WBFO pays more per day than NBCA due to productivity. Bidding captain would mean that I fly 3 more days a month plus have to spend several off days commuting. For me, working more days and working harder when at work just isn’t worth the small increase in pay or lost days off.

I am dying laughing because my once God’s gift to aviation self has become a WB reserve who flies bunky maybe once a month. I struggle to remember my uniform items now. I wish someone could put together a compilation of bunky buffoonery found in the sim. I will never judge again.

Not sure what your flying but Captain on the 737 for me is substantially more pay per month and year then the 777 Fo seat, plus a lot of commutable trips with nice layovers and great overnights. We have 737 guys that are crushing what many 777 CA make, much less 777 FOs. It’s not very hard to finesse a bit on the 737. I cringe every time I hear them boarding India or Asia flights!!

I’m IAH based. Europe trips are 20 hour 3 days, 737 trips are mostly 20:30 to 21:00 hour 4 days. A line on the 777 is 12 days of flying, on the 737 it’s 15. Basically the first 12 days are a wash and then you fly a 10 hour 3 day trip as captain while the WBFO stays home. Unless you can get premium pay, a NBCA works more days at a reduced daily rate. It’s more dollars to be a captain, but only because you put in more days to earn it. Personally, I’d rather fly one long leg, nice layover, and one leg home. I feel worse after a domestic 4 day than anything international. The longer legs are even better. Get paid for 14 hours and sleep half of it. I commute so gaming the system really doesn’t work for me. I’m never in position for premium pay. The guys that are really killing it are the senior WBFO’s in bases that see a bunch of training. They still only fly 12 days a month but end up with 110+ credit every month. Like I said, it’s great to be able to bid what you want. There are people who bid 777 fo and can’t wait to hold 737 captain, and there are others who bid captain only to bid back when they can.
