Re-read previous posts. That’s exactly what is being disputed by saying you need to still work 14-15 days at united in order to break guarantee. Some people don’t understand how add pay works. And while everyone has such a hard on for wanting to copy everything Delta has, it’s not always better. Delta also can’t drop every trip and do nothing but pick up premium, they have to get back to line value first. We have the ability to never ever have to fly a straight time trip. But again, you guys just wanna automatically copy Delta without even knowing how our respective systems even work.

El Guapo, you don’t understand the reserve pay then. Geez. You pick up a 20 hr trip on VDO, you get 50% add of 10 hours. Your MPG does NOT go up. It stays at 73. For Delta they get the entire 20 hours of the trip added to their monthly guarantee. Delta reserve pay goes up rapidly for each additional premium pay.

Not quite a day off “of their choice.” The payback day is automatically placed on the next available reserve day. If there aren’t any left in the month, those PB days are “banked” for use in future months at the crewmember’s discretion (Think paid drops). If you don’t use the PB days by a certain date I can’t remember, they get racked onto your vacation.

If you flew 78 hours that month you’d want MPG to be 73 with 10 hours of add pay. It’s not really common but there are good reasons it’s add pay and not guarantee.

For DAL reserv, you get full 20 hour credit added to the 73 MPG, to give them 93 total.
You still think it's the same now?!
If there were 70 hours in premium trips,
UAL gets 73 + 35 (50% add pay) = 108 hrs Total
DAL gets 73 + 70 = 143 hrs Total.
You are so right Guapo, it's exactly the same for both carriers. And that MPG and Add Pay is not different at all. Ugh!

You are 100% correct that a Delta reserve pilot will get the value of a (greenslip/premium/OT) trip paid out on top of his/her monthly guarantee. If reserve guarantee is 78 hours and you pick up a 2-day trip over two of your off days worth 10+30, your pay statement will now reflect 88+30.
You are also entitled to the two off days over which which you volunteered to fly but you cannot pick where they go (if you still have days in the month left). They will simply put them on at the end of your trip. However, if you return from your trip on, say the 30th of Sept, scheduling cannot just put them on for 1-2 October. Those off-days become "payback days" that you can use at a later point of your choosing (provided there is adequate reserve coverage) and, if held long enough, they merely become additional vacation days (not the best use of a payback day but sometimes the reality in a short-staffed category).

If we can't get a new contract, then we should just fly for the 50% premium or whatever premium we can get.

Wow. You are not too bright when this is being spelled out for you for the umpteenth time. The MPG is critical in differentiating how Delta and UAL reserves get additional money for VDO/Premium trips.
