If this is true that United is asking you to sign an agreement almost identical to the one you signed with Delta, then what leg or voice do you have to stand on? It’s called precedence.
Soooo, did you really mean precedence, or was that a Freudian slip, and you were going for precedent. Hilarious either way.

Guys? I'm getting really confused. The SAPA letter that kicked this whole shebang off the other day said SKW pilots must deny UA mainline pilots the jumpseat because doing so without an agreement might result in FAA CERTIFICATE ACTION! Now, a couple of days later they plan to deny empty cabin seats too. Could allowing a CASS cleared widebody pilot to take a seat in back risk someone's certificate too? Man, that sure is scary.

Or, could it be that the whole juvenile letter was a scare tactic consisting of a giant pile of Bovine Scatology? (copyright Airhoss). Sounds about right.

By the way, let's just say that seats in back are actually denied and disruptions result that cost UAL money and bad publicity. I guarantee that if ALPA had used false pretenses and directed pilots to do anything similar... UA would have ALPA in court in a heartbeat. At least by putting it all in writing, the SKW and RAH instigators of this little war should make it easy for a judge to render a swift verdict.

Does anyone have an accurate number of aircraft owned by United but operated by Skywest or Republic? Just curious as to what the volume, if any, of assets that could be transferred elsewhere if it ever came down to that. I really don’t expect it to get to that point. I expect a few captains from each side to do something stupid. The rest will simply look at the memo, roll their eyes, put it in the trash, and welcome any pilot to ride the jumpseat.

They can only deny seats if requested by a jumpseater. If you are issued a seat on a non rev pass, the captain can’t deny anything.

OO owns all of the aircraft that they currently use for UA contracts. Not sure about YX but I think UA owns most.

If this “battle” goes forward, what airlines will lose all Jumpseat and pass benefits for ALL of their employees? That’d make things interesting real quick....

Might get expensive flying aircraft around when you don’t have the means to sell the seats. If they are dragging this to the point of denying even seats in the back on Delta American and Alaska flights, there may very well be a whole lotta RJs for sale on the used market.

Thanks. Just curious as to which assets involved in this little stunt could be used as an excuse for the next great whipsaw. I really don’t expect much to happen, but if it does, and if enough pilots can’t get to work resulting in disruptions, it isn’t the mainline pilots who are going to take the heat. I’d suggest that mainline and regional pilots just continue playing nice while this sorts itself out.

Republic and skywest operate over a thousand flights per day for united. Leverage exists.
