ExpressJet recently eliminated UA pilots from our aft FA jumpseat in the FOM. The chief pilot sent out a memo stating UA pilots are NOT permitted in the F/A jumpseat. Did you also know regional pilots flying under the UA brand are below UA employee family members for pass travel? UA pilots keep repeating the same line they need priority on regional flights to support the system. Ok, then passtravel classification for regional employees should be above UA employee family members on all UA/UAX flights. This is about supporting UA flying and I would challenge UA pilots to force this positive change.

UAX employees do not have priority over vacation passes on their own metal. SA0V goes above any SA0X. Unless the UAX exclusive airlines have a separate agreement.

I'm willing to sign the new agreement except for one small change:
On Republic/SkyWest/Mesa UA Flights the priority for the jumpseat goes like this:
1. Own metal
2. Republic/SkyWest/Mesa by TOC
3. UAL/UAX unique carriers by TOC
4. OAL
5. GoJet just because they have no backbone
Fair is fair and I believe this will make the agreement more reciprocal then the current UAL proposal. Level headed UAL employees will even agree with this.

I’d like to see UAL management and ALPA fix this with a quick agreement.
United owns the flying
United pilots fly for United exclusively.
United wholly owned regionals fly for United exclusively.
United contractors fly for multiple airlines
So to protect United’s own flying, bottom line, etc:
Jumpseat priority on all United or United express flying goes:
UAL pilot by seniority order
UAX wholly owned pilot by seniority order
UAX subcontractor pilot by seniority order
OAL at TOC.
And add the ability to list for and check in for the Jumpseat online.
Simple fix that will protect United’s flying. Bottom line is they either own the jets or they own the flying the subcontractors are flying jets on. They make the rules.
This little outburst at Skywest and Republic that basically equals the agreements those carriers have with Delta and American is not going unnoticed. Guys at mainline UAL are already getting denied the Jumpseat. That is causing personal financial harm to those pilots, as well as forcing reserve pilots into increased usage. It will also cost United money as they have to cover that flying even if it ends up in SRM. If flights go cancelled due to this issue I’d expect even more of a harsh response such as loss of United flight benefits for Skywest and Republic. It’s time for UAL management to step in and use the shock collar on the dog that bit the hand that feeds.
