My problem with what you are saying is that the captains that choose to follow their respective company/union policy is doomed either way.
They will either knowingly ignore the FOM, which could result in a FAA violation (specially if they remove the section that stipulates UA in the FOM), and one which is not protected by an ASAP.
Or they will face retribution, by pilots who claim that they will make sure they become persona non grata with UA.
I mean, United have a long list of so called "scabs"... so what is that you want? A person who goes against company policy, union demand or knowingly ignores FOM to further his career?
I would hate to find myself in this situation, i don't know what i would do? Either way you are in a ****hole.

And had United tried to fix this only problem then i don't think there would even be a big issue. But at the same time, they decided to change it on the regional level as well.
Today, a GoJet dispatcher will bump a SkyWest/Republic/Mesa pilot as well. And it could be a GoJet dispatcher with 1 day at the job kicking of a lifer at SkyWest/Republic/Mesa with 20 some years and now he misses Christmas with the family.
End of the day these 3 regionals do a lot of work for United and the majority of the dedicated ones don't.
Chicago is mainly a United base for SkWest and they probably have more pilots in that base alone that Air Wisconsin, CommuteAir, Trans State and GoJet together.

The UA pilot realizes that something needs to change. The fact that a pilot with 2 months seniority at a regional airline trumps his 35 years at United and the pilot is going out to fly a Delta trip is total BS.

Here’s the scenario:
United pilot headed home to Detroit on Christmas Eve from Chicago and the weather is crap. He walks up to the UA RAH flight and there is a SKW pilot there already checked in so the United pilot is second based on time of checkin. The flight is over sold so he bails early and heads over to the AA eagle flight.
He sitting at the gate when that same SKW pilot comes walking up, the UA flight is delayed 2 hours for weather. The SKW pilot says hey I’m an eagle pilot and so he goes above the UA guy. UA guy sighs.....another oversold flight so he bails and heads to the DL mainline flight.
Next thing he knows the same SKW JS shows up, looks at the United guy and says AA canceled.....hell of a night huh? He walks up to the counter and says hi I’m Delta connection so he is now once again ahead of the UA pilot.
****ed off the UA pilot heads back to the delayed UA RAH flight because surely he has some sort of priority on his own airline.....right? Well now DL throws out an 18hr delay and guess who comes walking up? The SKW pilot and he still has priority on UA because he checked in first and is United Express. @$&!......
The UA pilot gives up and accepts the fact he will miss Christmas with his family. He asks the SKW pilot if he is going to work or going home. The SKW pilot states he is based in DTW doing Delta flying and this is his first trip at SKW.......The UA pilot realizes that something needs to change. The fact that a pilot with 2 months seniority at a regional airline trumps his 35 years at United and the pilot is going out to fly a Delta trip is total BS. Not only that he got beat on AA too!!!

That’s the point and it has nothing to do with me looking down on regional pilots. 2 months ago the guy was flying Cessna and now he has JS priority over every United pilot on all 3 major airlines and Alaska........that’s a problem.

That's what Republic guys are so upset about. They want that priority, but don't have it.

Best of luck to you as well. Hopefully you’re not a commuter as UALPA just gave up the JS on more than 50 percent of the UAX feed. Hopefully UA’s operations stay keen in the near future (because United’s operations were ever strong to begin with......) and Kirby won’t have to get involved to spank your union again.
