The one article discussing your poor performance cited 145’s and CRJs so I assumed you still had them.

Got a source for that info? How about a source that shows how many jumpseats each carrier puts in the air in a daily basis.
National transportation library data looks like:
UA puts about 3112 jumpseats into the air every day. Assuming UA mostly 2 js/plane
OO - 2230
YX - 867

The replaced CRJ-700s are reconfigured and recertified as 50-seat CRJ-550s and, at least initially, are being deployed to replace all-economy 50-seaters where there is potential for premium cabin/seat sales.
The net result is no change in the number of 70 and 76-seat airplanes and an increase in 50-seat airplanes as SCOPE prevents an increase in anything other than 50-seat airplanes at UAX.
It's an interesting idea, but it's yet to be seen whether the 10 FC, 20 E+, and ability to hold everyone's rollaboard in the cabin will generate enough of a revenue premium to offset the increased cost of the larger airplane. What I do know is that I'd rather ride on a CRJ-550 than a CRJ-200 or E145.

No. We (UAL Pilots) don't ride in the jumpseat when on positive-space travel; we ride in the cabin. If the company can not give us a contractually compliant seat (usually E+ on domestic DHs, sometimes FC), we sit in the gate area watching the airplane push back then call scheduling to repair our schedule.
To avoid confusion, they are replacing 70-seat CRJ-700s with 70-seat E-175SCs. The E-175SC is a 70-seat version of the normally 76-seat E-175.

So, commuting up to ORD, seat in back of a Skywest CRJ. Check in with the captain during boarding to say hi & ask permission to ride. F/O launches into “what do you think about this cat fight we’re in?”
Thank God I went through SERE...
