Um, if you fly for a UX exclusive carrier, you don’t have nonrev privileges on a OO or YX flight operated for Delta. Also, “pilot commuting” IS a jumpseat listing.

Still, even listing at the gate. Ive always been given a space in the back when there is room. Gate agents arent dumb enough to be that blind.

If the guy flew for Express Jet he has pass privileges only on United. He has stated that he is employed by a United exclusive regional and was trying to get on a Delta flight covered by Skywest. The agent can no more give him a seat in the back than they can a pilot for UPS. Gate agents aren’t dumb enough to simply give seats away. His only option if denied the jumpseat is to purchase a seat or wait for another flight.

Jammy, Would it kill you guys to not use the jumpseat as a weapon and allow SAPA to scare you into thinking you’re violating an FAR by taking us?
United shouldn’t have to take hundreds of seats out of inventory a day to get us to and from work because you guys are getting to call the shots and decides to wage war with commuters? I can think of many routes flown by SKW that could easily have 5-7 United pilots trying to get to work on any given flight and day.
You want to talk about an absolutely warped sense of reality, your suggestion is the definition. All these snarky comments about us being out of touch with reality. HELLO!!! Anybody reading comments like this?

I realize my pos space comment is a little off the context of this thread. That being said- yes I think it is a reasonable ask in the context of contract negotiations to try to get positive space commutes. It already exists for envoy. With fewer seats available in the back and competition over the jumpseat- it's a cost just like any other.
As to us waging a "jumpseat war"- it took two side to create this mess. I disagree with UALPA for forcing this change and I think going straight to JS denials was far too strong a response to it. I also feel some UA pilots are too quick to judge and blame YX/OO captains who have been thrust into this.
Lastly-
I never mentioned anything about an "absolutely warped sense of reality". Nor have i made any "snarky comments about us being out of touch with reality". I think you have confused me with another poster.

Well he wanted to get in the jumpseat to "educate" the lowlife regional guy.
Exactly why there will not be a UAL in my actual jumpseat. At this point you have become a distraction from me doing my job instead of a possible additional crew member who will help me out if the stuff hits the fan, or I miss a radio call.
