Let's just call this a beginning of the end of SkyWest having dominance with United. Republic is already on thin ice for creating the Dao incident. The media and public all blamed United, internally, we all know who caused the problem in the first place. United owns the majority of their lift, so it will be easy to unwind Republic flying. SkyWest will be a little more complex, as United only owns about 80 of the aircraft on their contracts. But like wheelchairs at the airport, United can just hire another company to push them.

Enjoy the pyrrhic victory for now SkyWest and Republic. It's just a battle, and memories run lifetimes.

I don’t know who the winners and losers will be in the regional market, but I’m pretty sure that the regional side will be much smaller in the next 5 years. I also suspect that the regionals who exclusively feed United will have a better chance of serving United in the future than those who don’t. Some of the displaced pilots will gain employment with the company of their dreams, some go to their second tier choices, and some either start over or leave aviation.

To be fair, Republic didn’t cause the Dr. Dao incident. He was on a flight operated by Republic, but the crew or airline didn’t cause the problem. They told the gate agent, that person called security, and the security guards caused the problem by using force.

Wow! Short memory. A Delta-Republic flight crew was given PS travel by Republic on a UAX-Republic aircraft at the last minute. This caused a paying passenger to be removed in order to accommodate [crew] that was traveling to NOT operate a UAX segment. This action was actually not allowed by Republic-UAL agreement. That is why it was such a big deal (minus the pax getting beat up).

Forgot about the DAL aspect. I stand corrected. If they were deadheading a crew to operate a United flight I’d stand by my original statement. We have bumped people last minute. I did not that long ago. Called in to advise that I was down to my backup and that the flight was full. They gave me a PNR and a few minutes later the announcement went out looking for one volunteer. The irony is that it was on an express flight and a regional pilot from a different company checked in first. I guess today I’d have the jumpseat.

I thought that "we're helping each other out' rather than who spit venom over who got to the JS first? You can checkin online for a jump can't you? While all express pilots can't.....

I don't mean to offend but so what if they're flying an AA or DAL contract. If you live somewhere that is only served by UAX, then kinda sucks to be you.

If you wanted that priority maybe UAL should actually buy those "exclusive' carriers like Delta owns Endeavor and AA owns Envoy; or you could just go to one of those other carriers that do.

But since they don't, I don't think the priority should be done under the umbrella that is under the WO carriers.

Tsk, tsk, you give them too much credit. To date they haven't won any sort of victory whatsoever, pyrrhic or not. They wound up and took a big swing, and we said "meh".

Yet another swing and miss.

Yes we can list on UA mainline. We can’t on UAX. IT issue. One that is supposedly being addressed and the new priority which has already gone in the system for all UA and UAX flights has been updated. But for now that’s the next step. On UA mainline TOC is irrelevant for us.

It just doesn’t matter if you feel WO and exclusive are different. UA management feels they are the same. UA writes the checks to your company for UAX flights. Their money, their rules. Tough life lesson.

I was asked a question. I answered that question.
You don't like the answer; duly noted.

And, no I have never been able to either list or check in for the jumpseat on UAX metal online.

Well, when those carriers actually become wholly owned, then perhaps i'd agree with that. Till then, feeling the same and being wholly owned shouldn't be controlled the same way.

Unfortunately for you that’s not how the company who owns the routes and contracts your RJs feels.

UAL doesn't own essential air service routes. Who cares if it's subsidized, UAL gets the customers through major hubs
