You need to look at the gates around that gate. They look at the different footprints to find the best use of space. Most of the F gates in ORD are bastardized from what they once were. Yeah they used to park guppies at the end of F in the CAL days but now the gates are entirely too tight.

The rates and ability to allow more 76 seat jets at the regionals are already in the contract. Our involvement in the fleet planning process is over. If they decide that the cost of adding another fleet type is worth it, then they’ll act. They could also decide that flying 737-700’s or 319’s with empty seats and not unlocking additional rj’s is the better plan. Another option is doing nothing. My money is that they pick option 3. At the end of the day, they decide what the fleet will look like. We only get a say in how much we will charge them to fly.
