Well, I guess that's one way to look at it.

No different from all the ooh-rah Hollywood and CMT guys who never spent a day in uniform wrapping themselves up in the flag and flaunting their views.

The LA Times article says contrails contribute to global warming.

But clouds help prevent it?

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/clouds-may-hold-the-key-to-future-warming/

How is a contrail different from a cloud at reflecting sunlight?

Lol. This ain’t continental. If you use it, nobody will say a word. You keep forgetting the 4 corporate priorities. I start it whenever it isn’t nice and cool. Not the least bit interested in how long before pushback it is. My crew and passengers regularly say thanks. Guys who think they’re saving the planet are only making everyone miserable.

Nice to also fire it up when FO is warm, or even better before flight deck crew gets warm....proactive baby.

There were those guys, but I never saw any trouble at CAL for running the APU. We refused boarding because the plane was smoking hot after sitting out all day at the hangar. The chief pilot backed us up and told us not to expose the crew or passengers to that environment. On the other hand I had a scabtain refuse to crank the APU even though the passengers and F/A’s were complaining about the sweltering heat. I got up and told him that I wasn’t going to sweat and to come up to the terminal to get me when he was ready to go. He was ****ed, but I never heard anything about it.
