Seeing either of those two things usually makes me cringe, because I know what's coming next.

Sorry, but you don't get a pass on this. This year's Oshkosh was a celebration of women in aviation and we sent...wait for it...an airplane full of women.

In what world isn't that awesome? Don't you work at American? Whey would you even care?

Mind your own business. Our women rock - you're just jealous and/or insecure.

Or a sexist troll.
And most males would feel pretty lame participating in a celebration of men anyway. Not quite sure what you could assume about such a group. Men are all over the place when it comes to values, beliefs and politics. And most western men would root for their wife or daughter over their fellow male. I guess you can still assume they have a y chromosome..

It's easier to think of it it this way: any and every group that is not "OBAP, NGOA, WIA ..." represents you. Here are just a few. There are probably dozens more.

Aircraft Kit Industry Association
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
American Aviation Historical Society
Antique Airplane Association
Civil Aeronautics Board
Civil Aerospace Medical Institute

International Miniature Aerobatic Club
LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation
National Aeronautic Association
National Air Transportation Association

National Congress on Aviation and Space Education
National Intercollegiate Flying Association
Naval Helicopter Association
Ninety-Nines
Men are all over the place when it comes to values, beliefs and politics. And most western men would root for their wife or daughter over their fellow male. ..
I am rooting for my daughter. I hope that she chooses a profession that makes her happy. She sees how much I am on the road and she is grateful that mom is home to take care of the family. She asks me allot about the trade-offs and the sacrifices.

I don't want to push the kids in any one particular direction or another, but I as a parent try to shine a light on the various possibilities while talking about their strengths and weaknesses and aptitudes. Kids seem to figure out what they are good at.

Heck 73% of kids quit playing baseball by age 13/14. Hitting a curveball is tough.

I do wonder if our company is spending our profit sharing money on these events? I wonder if we the line pilots are subsidizing it by not running the APU and doing single engine taxi's. I do get frustrated when I save the company money, and then I watch managers just spend money on foolishness. Sorta kills their credibility.

A plane, a crew, and 100 workers on company paid business for a day. A wide body airplane out of international revenue service for static display? Male or female... I don't think it's a wise spending of $.

Me neither.

If an organization can’t show/tout members other than white males, they are, by default sexist/racist.

Sexism aside, how was this assigned? I'm no contract expert but my understanding is that all flying must go through our contract. Seems fishy.

That’s the part I don’t like. There are a bunch of people at the company who would have liked nothing more than to fly to Oshkosh, or even just be a part of the event, or to represent the company, but weren’t given the opportunity because they weren’t born with the correct anatomy.

You have to think outside the box to do some of these things (and I’m sure the majority of our pilots are more than capable) and history has shown that trusting the unknown has lead to embarrassment on the company's part. Insert the image of “that captain” who you know would cause all sorts of trouble if assigned a trip like this. I’m imagining a 787 running both engines holding on the pad awaiting “correct marshaling “ and holding up the whole damn air show or something while a poor FODM is trying to cut and paste procedural info to email to Oshkosh to be handed to the poor line operations volunteers . We are our own worst enemy too often.
