That is correct. Keep in mind that SFO, LAX, EWR, and GUM are junior bases for the Guppy. SFO and EWR for the Bus and 756. Anything like ORD, IAH, or DCA will be more senior. DEN is by far the most senior base that we have. You probably won’t see that for at least a year.

Seriously? There are many domiciles that have a right to cry every time a vacancy is announced and their names aren’t on it, but EWR?
Other than SFO, EWR get the lion’s share of newhire slots, upgrades, and movement overall. It is very junior and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

Exactly, and when you factor in commuting the widebody looks even better. Most junior NB captain lines will require commuting the day prior or after many of the trips. Plan on flying 3 more days, plus the likely possibility of 3 commutes on a day off to be anything but a fairly senior NB captain. When the difference in pay is only about $40K, those extra 6 days on the job per month make the WB look really good. WB f/o generally pays more dollars per day than NB captain, but the NB captain works more days. Some people aren’t wired for long haul flying, and some put a premium on a fourth stripe. It’s good to have a choice.
