Commuting to short call assignment
I'm planning my long call reserve commute and am trying to anticipate the worst case scenario. So prior to 1759L they can assign me a short call with a minimum of 10 hours notice, meaning 12.5 hours to showtime (assuming they used me the first minute I was on short call).
My question is: if my two commuting options get me there within 12.5 hours, am I still good? Or do I have to actually be in position within 10 hours? Can you accept a short call assignment via CCS?

Second, the day prior to starting a RAP you don’t answer your phone! Now you see an aggressive pick up, have at it. When they take it away from you, don’t answer the phone. Once contact made then yes 10hrs! Until 1800. Then acknowledge by CCS only. Past midnight, then you answer.
Third, plan your commute to be within 2.5 hrs of base at start of SC. Or if you are a gambler, arrive at base 2.5 after SC starts.
So you’re question is moot. Stay home until you have to make a morning sign in. More likely plan on day 1 SC/FSB starting when you select it. (Question 2, yes) Don’t want to select, not to your liking, they’ll assign it to you.
Good luck!

Most schedulers have figured out that means you are enroute to the airport either by air or car with sketchy reception. You will only get a UTC if you don't tell them this and you will only get a missed trip if you are out of position. Personally I've never had a scheduler bat an eye and they always say I will make a note on your schedule about it.
