Default United Increases 350 Order?

An article today mentioned United increased its 350 order by 2 aircraft. That is after converting the 1000's to 900's and increasing from 35 to 45. So now it seems United has 47 (an odd number for a fleet size). It's odd we would have increased our commitment when everyone says the program is scrapped at TK. Any good rumors on United actually taking delivery of the 350's? The latest rumor was the 350 sim was sold (not encouraging for us that want to eventually fly an Airbus longhaul).

All I can tell you is that the 350 has never been off the table. And all the guys who went to 350 school in preparation for its arrival are now doing other things.

SK was in Denver ops about 6 months ago. Was asked about 350s. He said he’s a huge fan of Airbus but to expect 350s to be kicked down the road once more and then lumped into a huge all or none 100 plane competition with Boeing to replace aging 777-200 fleet. He said a competition like that would get us the best price in the long run.

There are only 4 things that I don't like on the 777 -

1. Yoke
2. Noisy cockpit
3. Marginal seat
4. Marginal bunk

I'm pretty sure that Airbus has taken care of all 4 on the 350. Bummed that I'll never fly it.

Why do you consider 47 an "odd" number for a fleet size?

Because everyone knows that no self-respecting airline orders fleets in prime numbers. Ugh.
