I also remember that as well but like it of not, the CAL MEC directed Jay Pierce to approach management and insist that the UAL furloughed types be recalled to CAL pronto. Jim Brucia advised against it due to the upcoming SLI, but it was done anyways. I was in the room when this resolution was passed so again, you're welcome.

Apologize for the reception you received from Marotta but I know for a fact you were warmly welcomed by the membership committee Chairman Scott Johnson with open arms and free beer.

I, for one, was happy to see all of you gainfully re-employed but found the red badge clips to be a bit of a slap in the face.

Marotta appeared on behalf of the membership committee and threw down a stack of dues checkoff forms. It was a hostile crowd by the time any beer or pizza was involved. I did my 18 months in Newark after that and 90% of the guys were awesome. It was just a welcome from a guy that didn’t know his audience very well. (And for the record, not once, did I see any red badge clips. I was never offered one and I hadn’t even heard about them other than a few guys mentioning it on this forum).

Again, sorry that you went through that but the CAL MEC was instrumental regarding your return to the line. Know it’s not a popular thing but it is the absolute truth.

Just a clarification... it wasn’t a “recall”, it was a job offer as a new hire. The “recall” didn’t occur until the SLI was completed in 9/2013.

You are incorrect Sir. You were not brought back as new-hires, (pay, vacation ect), and the resolution included the wording recalls and UAL furloughees.

Again, lots of misdirected anger and some lack of gratitude on this one. The CAL MEC did the right thing when they didn't really have to and I sometimes wonder how the UAL MEC would have responded given the same circumstances in reverse? How and why you were treated by a few after the RECALL was unfortunate but plenty of us were very pleased to see you back on property and gainfully employed.

To this day I've never heard one recalled UAL furloughee give one iota of thanks to the group that actually got you back to work but after reading the responses on here, I'm not surprised.

There were enough shenanigans on both sides that it’s probably best to just let all this go and move on. It’s 10 years later. We should be focusing on the fact that the “on time” contract isn’t here.

There were red clips and there were blue clips. It's all good. Nothing to worry about the contract. At least we'll get full retro for section 3. Right?
