The Airbus fleet count was 166 total for all of 2018 and now it suddenly changes to 169 to end 2018. The data also indicated 1 Airbus delivered in 2018 but counted in 2019 as "awaiting on certification." So it looks like we just added 4 A319's to the fleet. I'll assume they are the AerCap lease returns.

Would be nice to find time to get that new contract done in between the aircraft orders. Just saying.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. Unless we were to cave on scope or if they were serious about getting something like the e195 or A220 and wanted to know the labor cost before the purchase agreement, there isn’t very much incentive for them to spend more money. The union has made it clear that relaxing scope isn’t even on the table, and the company doesn’t seem to be all that interested in the 100-120 seat jets. It would be nice to have a contract but unlikely for a year or two. I’d sure like to be wrong about having a TA to look at this year though, but I’m guessing late 2020-2021.

Keeping in the thread of new orders, does anyone know the cost of the E195 e2 compared to the A220, max7, 319neo...? My guess is that if Kirby wants the same number of big rj’s as Delta, he’s going to have to accept the fact that he’s going to do what Delta did and buy a snb fleet at mainline to get them.

No worries I won't be holding my breath.

Boeing Just Scored This Multibillion-Dollar Deal With United Airlines
FacebookTwitterLinkedIn
MICHAEL LARKIN 1/16/2019
Dow Jones stock Boeing (BA) has inked a deal to supply United Airlines (UAL) with 24 737 Max aircraft and four 777-300ER jetliners. Boeing stock edged up.

This ad will end in 14

The agreement is worth up to $4 billion at list price, depending on the variant of 737 Max the airline is taking. The deal was disclosed as management discussed Q4 earnings, which easily topped Wall Street forecasts late Tuesday.

United said it placed the order last month. Boeing racked up 893 net orders for commercial jets, with a total value of $143.7 billion, in 2018, helped by a year-end surge of 203 orders in December. That topped the 747 net orders for archrival Airbus (EADSY).

The new agreement is just the latest deal between the two companies. As of Sept. 30, United had firm orders for 154 Max aircraft, mostly for the largest, the Max 10 model.

The Dow Jones stock closed down less than 0.1% at 352.06 on the stock market today. United Airlines jumped 6.35% and Airbus rose 0.1%.

Looks like 2 more -300ER's this year, the other 2 next year. No other details on when.

United has been shrewd in getting 22 773s for a song while enhancing fleet commonality. And when you look at the dearth of 77X orders outside of the ME3 it appears they are playing their cards well yet again. Those 350 orders aren't looking good though.

I still think the A350 is coming it’s a perfect aircraft to start replace the 200Er’s in a few years. Right now the 777x is to much airplane and expensive. The company said as much last year at a conference. Now Boeing may hit it out the park
with the 797 and we could order a bunch of 797’s and 787’s to replace those 777’s but that still is a ways away.

The 787s will be replacing the 772s and there are very few routes that need the 77Xs, but buying a few of them rather than 45 359s saves the relatively huge expense of adding a whole new fleet. Kirby puts the odds of taking the 359s at only 20%.
