Furloughing 2172 pilots again? That UAL had 40 years of legacy work rules, and then we got a fat contract. Fat contract and poor pilot utilization were a fatal combo. A few years later we were flying the same schedule, with 2172 fewer pilots.
We are back to decent dollars, finally I doubt we will ever return to our inefficient old ways. At least the airline seems to be reasonably well run for now, except for maybe flight ops.
The constant procedural changes should have ended 4 years ago.

Granted, productivity has increased dramatically compared to pre-9/11 but you may also have noticed that there was a not so subtle reduction in the mainline fleet that accompanied the furloughs.

Translation: he (and you) believes everything management says.
Better cancel all the new hire classes since we are properly staffed. Don’t want to spend salaries and benefits on these new guys (even though you two got yours...pull up the rope) when you can just SRM and save money to be competitive. After all the world has changed.
