The current bid will have 5 snapshots. Just like every other bid that has come out since he took over. The bids always come out a Friday causing them to close on a Monday, resulting in only 5 snapshots. That causes him less work. The previous guy would open them whenever possibly resulting in having to post more snapshots. I will say it one more time. I’m not criticizing I think it’s interesting.
This bid closes on Tuesday.

Open mouth insert foot. Every other bid has opened Friday and closed Monday. Expectation bias I guess.

Actually, if one reads the MEC updates, they would know that to address this very issue, the company agreed to have bids close on Tuesday’s and allow one last snap shot to run the day prior to closing. Started with the last bid 19-01V..............

They will hire less than the amount of retirees or what they truly need. We do not work for a properly staffed airline.

Do you have numbers to validate that?

I definitely feel that way when I am trying to drop a trip… But I think the argument that has been stated here before is that we have very few cancellations due to lack of crew. That is probably the single most important metric in determining if we have a properly staffed airline.

In this, the age of huge data, the company can see exactly what the effects of increasing staffing would mean for cancellations versus overhead. Therefore, any increase of staffing would probably have to come from a Union demand in contract negotiations and would therefore be a monetized item which would cost us something somewhere else. Maybe it is worth it… But to get that flexibility of schedule, I believe we would have to give something else up.

I’m definitely not saying that our inability to drop is not frustrating, but the most plane and factual definition of properly staffed (crew caused CX), would indicate that in fact we are properly staffed. Getting into an abstract argument about how many days our pilot group would like to fly in general, and what staffing would look like to support that, is much more difficult

From SSC August minutes....23 Flight Ops cancellations in July. 65% Reserve utilization. And that's in JULY!! Which means fat city now. Bid RSV and enjoy the time at home.

Man I suck. If I agree to read MEC updates closer and no more drinking and posting can I be forgiven....
