Why would we know that? Besides isn't compass getting ought by RAH?

It’s a possibility.
We are being told that they are replacing CRJ-700s. If they are replaced by the carrier that currently operates the CRJ-700s on a 1:1 basis, that leaves:
Mesa with exactly 20 CRJ-700s
Skywest with 19 CRJ-700s putting the company 1 airframe over scope - they are already 2 airframes over scope.
GoJet with 25 CRJ-700s a net loss of 5 airframes. GoJet and Compass are owned by Trans States Holding.
It looks like it’s 1 of the 3 plausible options IF they’re going to the Carrier who currently operates the RJs that are being retired.
A thousand things can change between now and then though. It wouldn’t surprise me if a different carrier gets them. Also wouldn’t shock me if they ordered SNB at United and these don’t replace anything and just become growth.

Mainline should fly them and bring back the other 75 that are leased elsewhere.
100 frames back with 88 seats will bring 1200 pilot jobs at mainline
The right thing to do I would say

I personally don’t think these are for replacement. The oldest CRJ is what 18 years old. The oldest ones flying for UAL are probably 15 youngest around 10. I think it’s for the NSNB. An airline that is chasing every deal around and trying to extend the life of current airplanes and focused on efficiency is going to retire some airplanes early......I don’t buy it. I think both parties know what section 1 will look like after the contract and UAL is simply getting ready.

Just my thoughts.

Skywest has to keep CRJ700’s in order to serve aspen so probably one of the other two

I heard the 175 has the performance to do Aspen, it's the wing span that is the issue, but the Aspen airport is looking to make small corrections to make it happen. Not sure how much truth there is to this.

I don’t know anything about the wingspan issues.
The single engine go around in aspen is the problem. If you lose an engine inside 500’ AGL, you’re hiking back.

The runway limit is 95’ and I believe 100,000lbs. So the 175 fits. Can’t see a reason other than performance they don’t take it in there.

Nope - it can only do it seriously weight restricted - around 30 PAX.... so that won’t happen.
