United Orders 4 Boeing 787-9's and 25 EMB-175

Because both sides signed this 007 no info clause. The company better have a deal by the end of the year. If not choke the goose and let the wheels come off the bus. They seem to forget all these numbers are because of motivated pilots. Kirby is a POS the sooner he is gone the better.

They've got a lot of useful life remaining, and PAX love them.
My prediction is that UAL buys them up for cheap, and gets a pilot group built up for them...
Then comes an order for the E2-195. Same pilot group. Many more PAX (~124 mainline vs ~99 for the E190). Much more efficient...Much better CASM. Little lost in using E190s as stepping stone and stop-gap for a few years before the E2-195s come in for the longer duration.
At least they'll consider something like this if they've been observing Delta for any amount of time...

So it's official...market will be flooded with E190s pretty soon.

Guy I just flew with, wrote Howard about the new plane order. Howard responded. Said the pilots would be happy with the 25 RJ's. Howard was honestly confused why the pilots weren't jumping for joy.
I certainly hope that the rest of management isn't that clueless.

Not sure I follow...But AA is eliminating their 20 E190s next year, JetBlue is dumping all 60 of theirs as they bring in the A220 (C-Series).
Kind of what Delta did with the 717s. Buy a plane in the 100-pax range that no one else wanted and had no long-term future... That was my intended corollary.

Personally, I say just order the gosh darn things along with the -321s and get in line. We’d only be 18 months behind everyone else.

Delta’s 717 aren’t great effciency machines but if you get them at a discount, your cost problem is solved.
IMO though, just buy new E2-190s. New engines, new wings, a bunch of lessons learned fixes, not at all like the old E190s.
That also gives UA commonality all the way from the 175-E2 to the E195-E2.
