NEVER happen.

A big chunk of this group would gladly lower our sick bank accrual for a five dollar pay raise.

For the sake of discussion, will someone please answer this question. What is the "worst" that the company can "really" do when you hit that magic number in AMS?

People seem to be terrified of the man behind the corner. Don't be AMS low hanging fruit.

If you really believe your illness is a result of flying with another pilot who came to work sick...please call Pro Stans. You will be doing everyone a favor.

As for the OP question. Just forget about it. If you are sick, mark off sick. You will not be disciplined...period. Not at this airline.

OTOH! If you show up sick on my trip, I will handle it for you and that will not be pleasant. ( I actually had to do this once with a FA.)

Every employee has the right to a safe work environment.

And then there are those that deliberately take a bid for max pay rate / worst seniority situation. 5 sick calls per year, mainly for schedule modification. Then they whine about their dwindling sick bank and want it fixed for them. Don’t feel sorry for those that purposely put themselves in that position looking for more money.

I realize that. You realize that. There are a lot of people who feel they are in jeopardy when calling in sick.

Policies are written for various reasons. I wonder how much sick leave went down when the AMS system was rolled out? Was it because pilots were suddenly becoming less sick?

A side note for those who are company inclined regarding this matter. I'm only advocating calling in sick when you're sick. You might unfortunately hit a period where you ring the AMS bell. That's fine.
