Volunteer??????
Give me a break. An old buddy of mine in Guam just told me their new LEC chairman got paid 240+ hours, his first month "on the job" as the LEC chairman.
Volunteers work for free, to help those in need. Not to make 3X what most of us make.
No, I won't "volunteer" for ALPA. I couldn't stomach it.

There are a lot good people doing ALPA work ... Some paid and some as volunteers ... Doing great work for the group.
Then you have the really big egos that fancy themselves the saviors. Some of these have done some good things in spite of their methods.
I think a few of these whack jobs are frustrated that their ambitions are being held back by the pilot group ... Wiser minds.
Seems some of these have been discussed and a few have actually shown up in this thread.

The LEC Chairman used his UBU (union business) days to drop down to 4 days off for the month and picking up premium pay trips.
A council resolution passed 29-2 asking to change the ALPA rules allowing this abuse to take place.
The Chairman blamed United IT for allowing this to happen when confronted at the meeting.
There is a long history leading up to this, including being asked to run by the chief pilot apparently.
