Some of these dog carriers for small dogs are not that obvious. At first glance you might not even notice the carrier is anything other than a regular bag. A black dog inside a black carrier bag with the fine mesh would be almost invisible without looking carefully. The question here is what the owner told the FA about the bag. So far, the witness accounts do not support a claim that the FA wasn’t told there was a dog inside.

The truth will come out and I guarantee the FA didn’t know there was a dog in there.
It is factual from the witnesses who were there. There is no way with those kennels that she didn't. The mesh is designed so you can see the dog, that is why the airlines approve them that way. Look at the picture. There s no way she didn't see the dog. This was ridiculous and stupid, and anyone who tries to defend it is going to look ridiculous and stupid, which is why after a brief investigation United is going into a full mea culpa on this hoping that will limit the damage.

You haven't met a few of the flight attendants I have run across.

Boy United has some issues with taking care of pax. Don't forget the "united breaks guitars" saga as well, along with bashing the face in of that Asian guy.

I hope that the F/A not only gets fired, but gets charged with animal cruelty.

18 of the last 24 animal deaths on flights were flying on United.

You guys are literally killing it. Keep up the good work.

Could be. She busted a bunch of animal regulations on this one. Hopefully she doesn't get prosecuted for a dumb mistake, but this is really, really bad. Usually they don't prosecute animal welfare cases unless there was some kind of intent to harm or extreme negligence, but its hard to see how this wouldn't be the latter.
