There is no way a flight attendant would knowingly put/tell someone to put their pet in an overhead bin. This will come out as passenger fault guaranteed.

Agree with everything except for the last part...and even if it does come out, there will be ZERO reporting of it.

I agree and disagree. Sadly (many) people are sheep and do as they are told, in this case by an authority wihtout pause to the order. Im sure there is a lot more to this story than is being disseminated but sadly perception is reality and the damage is already done.

Leave your pets at home, find a pet sitter, or don’t own a pet. Problem solved.

I predict we will take full responsibility and settle on behalf of United, the dog crate company, the airport, dog breeders everywhere, and Michael Vick.

mmm we fly people, and people regardless of your desires have their own problems, desires, wants and needs. It is our job to provide them the customer service they paid for. I will yield that yes it has gotten out of control with the "service" animals and our companies have taken moves to stop that. Its important that you remember that next time instead of sneer at them. Maybe she was in the process of moving and had no other way of bringing their animal with them. Or maybe she was just bringing her dog on their vacation. I can care a less, its not my job to be worried why a person brings an animal they paid for a ticket and we give them what is hopefully excellent customer service which is in the end our job.

United came out claiming full responsibility. The picture of the dead dog went viral on social media. You all should know by now that perception is reality. I've seen it first hand, a person gets hurt and people are upset over it. Someone hurts a puppy or a kitten and people lose their ever loving minds. United is being absolutely eviscerated on social media and news outlets. It's amazing what one employee can cause. This will be worse than the doctor dragging.

Bulldogs, french bulldogs, and pugs do not travel well. The owner should know this before taking their dog on trips, and that putting them in a confined space could be dangerous. I've owned a few bulldogs, and would never fly them. Every airline has warnings about traveling with these dog breeds on their websites.

1. United claiming responsibility does NOT mean they are responsible. This is a smart PR move learned from DAO.
2. United ALWAYS gets eviscerated on social media. And we DON’T know the truth about the FA “causing” this. The carrier looks like a regular bag. People like to blame first then disregard when the truth finally does come out.
3. This will not be worse than the Republic doctor dragging.
