It’s been a Guppy for 40+ years!!! Blame Boeing!!! It isn’t going to change because some people are offended. It’s a term of endearment (i.e. Fifi, Bigfoot, Light Twin, Sparkie, and of course Whale).

Uncomfortable light twin for hauling domestic trash at slow speeds.

But 'guppy' works.

Stop it! You are going to hurt the feel feels of some people who are flying their first "big" shiny jet.

Oh definitely not offended... but anecdotally, it seems that Guppy, Fifi, and the other pet names are most fervently used by the types who also like to loud talk in the crew room about the good ol' days, mostly using callsigns like scooter and skippy in reference to other 60+ year old men. I kid mostly and I enjoy drinking a beer with them...

Happily, I've yet to hear a Capt's welcome aboard announcement that included "Guppy" or anything quite like that Delta Capt Hollywood's abomination. I'll bet one million dollars give or take that he gets a little teary eyed or maybe even a little wood when he says Guppy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQFeZRNNL6U
