Kirby is an idiot, and he thinks we are all stupid too. Here he hopes he can buy you to go the extra mile without actually paying for it. The last sentence says it all. We hope you will all imagine winning one of the prizes. What a great way to reward us for breaking operational records! He hopes to use this same management magic and convince us to give up scope, including increasing JV flying or allowing United to buy another airline. This announcement is getting torched in the comments section, as it should. The perfect attendance as a qualifier makes it even dumber. Hope nobody ever gets ill or has a sick kid. What a stupid, insulting... I mean EXCITING idea.

So the gate agent busting his/her ass dealing with rude pax and other headaches to get a flight out on time on a quick turn might lose out on the lottery to a 777 reserve guy who gets perfect attendance for sitting at home collecting unused SCs? This will destroy morale and create resentment. If it's not broken why fix it? Hey we had great operational performance so let's go change things up!
