I am somehow reminded of 'christmas vacation'..
Frank Shirley: Remember how I was toying with the idea of suspending the Christmas bonuses?
Mrs. Helen Shirley: You *didn't*! Well, of all the cheap lousy ways to save a buck!
SWAT Commander: That's pretty low, mister! If I had a rubber hose, I would beat you...
( just a quote that came up in my mind. In no way do I advocate violence with a rubber hose)

Frank Shirley: I changed my mind. I'm reinstating all the bonuses.

I never understood the like for the new guy but just can't get over the tone of this woops email.
"Our intention was to introduce a better, more exciting program, but we misjudged how these changes would be received by many of you."
He doesn't say "management messed up" he insinuates the program was good it was just poorly received. Completely missing the point of an out of touch management that is surprised the staff can do basic math.

I wondered two days ago if this might happen. (I hesitated to opine that here).
While disappointed that he would initially try such an ill-formed stunt, I’m encouraged that he actually DID stop it...if not pull the plug.
It means they might actually listen to the minions....and that they realized it was recreating some real animosity that took years to quell...and could have toppled the entire apple cart.

This all got brought up because some guy, kid, troll.... responded to my comment about not giving up scope and allowing the company to increase JV flying. Flying that is owned by United pilots. I really don't care what you, him, the pretty girl that loves fashion and sits in the left seat at EK, or the pilot that the company wants to give our flying to thinks about themselves or my ego. You can't have our flying.

Yes and since I know they have psychologists on payroll to consult on how to best screw us in contract negotiations, would have thought one would have told them what was going to happen.

And where are all the "rah rah Kirby is here to run and airline and he's doing a good job!" cheerleaders at?
I know, employee relations DON'T run an airline and keep the board, shareholders, and wall street happy.
But it's been proven that crapping on your employees isn't exactly helpful.

Me neither.

I recently met Oscar in person. My opinion, which is worthless but as a human I like to hand it out as often as I can, my opinion is that Oscar and Scott have come to a mutual understanding that Oscar will rally the troops and Scott will operate the airline as efficiently as he can. The moral of the story is that THE HEAD is a labor supportive person. He believes that a successful company starts with happy employees, and THAT is the most important fact to be garnered here. Mr. Kirby has a leash, and if his changes don't work then Oscar will accept the reality and put a stop to IT, whatever "IT" may be.
