XM193 is 55gr FMJBT, not a designed penetrator round like 62gr M855 or Mk318.

Switching to the 77gr SMK of Mk262 Mod 1, you'd still see a very similar if not more pronounced result as M193.

I do agree 9mm ball would provide a more 'apples to apples' result with regards to penetration; what isn't discussed, however, is the energy of the 5.56 projectiles as they tumble, fragment and exit the particleboard.

I agree. We are all aholes because we didn't keep our kids safe.
Our government failed in its core mission: Keeping its residents safe.
About 33,000 gun deaths per year.

Imagine if America had 33,000 deaths per year in aviation crashes. Do you think SOMETHING would be done?

So does that include pistols, rifles, muzzle loaders, self inflicted, accidental, police, military?

Imagine if the aviation community looked at crashes with such a simpletons view... Do you think we would ever turn a prop?

Oh, how does that number compare to driving deaths? According to CDC, 73% of teenage deaths due traffic accidents. 13% homicide including knives, and other objects. Dead is dead after all. Outlaw teen car travel.Do it for the kids....

Or check the hysteria.

Not a gun owner, just a lib who can't figure out which bathroom to use.
Not all gun owners support the NRA.
Not all gun owners want unrestricted weapon ownership.

Our gun culture, has changed drastically over the years:

In the 1800s a billboard in Dodge City stated:
"The Carrying of Firearms Strictly Prohibited"

In 1813, both Kentucky and Louisiana passed laws banning concealed weapons.

In the 1800s, an Alabama court ruled that the state constitution does not include the right "to bear arms upon all occasions and in all places"...and that the state legislature can "suppress the evil practice of carrying weapons secretly".

James S. Hogg, the Governor of Texas said:
the "mission of the concealed deadly weapon is murder. To check it is the duty of every self-respecting law-abiding man."

In the "Wild West", most arrests were for drunk and disorderly conduct. The second ranked number of arrests was for carrying concealed weapons.

Most western frontier towns banned the carrying of weapons in town, and averaged one or two murders per year.

In 1959, 60% of Americans favored a ban on pistols and revolvers...today about 75% oppose a ban on handguns.

I mean, really.........

As a side note, extract suicides from the firearm death rate and see what you get.

I know.......I know.......some simpleton is going to say something like "well, take away the guns and they won't kill themselves". Sure, because it's JUST THAT SIMPLE.......

A desperate person will ALWAYS find a way to solve what they think their problem is. Doesn't matter the medium;

If you are shooting through boards, M193 will go through the most hands down, than of the others you listed. I use Mk262 in my drum mag for its underpenetration characteristics. As far as home defense, I have 5.56 TAP 75gr bthp. Neither of these rounds pose the risk a 9mm does as far as hitting someone else in the house.

Edit: There is no doubt Mk318 has the best wounding capability after a barrier.

We have lots of rules and regulations regarding driving and the auto industry to make it safer, such as requiring a license to drive, which includes a written and practical test. There are MANY safety features required of vehicle manufacturers to make our roads safer.

Nah... facts don’t mean anything these days... it’s easier to make stuff up and make you prove it’s fake news.
