United Hiring Brief (2/9/18)

I don't understand this post? Good people get turned down all the time at all the airlines. Not everyone gets hired, doesn't matter if you flew a U2 or CRJ2......

I made my statement after someone posted that CFI's are getting hired from Bonanzas to the 737.
If you cannot understand the point I was making, then there's very little I can do to help your reading comprehension.
I remember the late 90's when friend who was a PI at TK on the 747 told me about one of the Presidential pilots getting turned down by United. Having worked with him on his recurrent training, he was astounded that Hiring couldn't see how this guy was top-tier.
You're right: not everyone gets hired. But I'd argue that maybe... just maybe... the hiring process could be improved.

I’m almost in the same boat as you Huggy. A very well respected friend of mine who is very accomplished didn’t even get an interview invite. He starts at Delta next month. Your buddy will catch a break.

“Highly respected U-2 Pilots...” as if he’s God’s gift to aviation and could waltz right into the office and demand his United CJO. We’re moving people from Newark to Kansas City, not flying recon missions over Russia. That type of attitude is why many “highly respected” pilots DON’T get hired.
This isn’t the military anymore. Your silver oak leaf just turned into 3 stripes and the captain’s you know what.

Lots of time in a variety of aircraft, and has had more than his share of aviation challenges that he has excelled in.
It's a shame United didn't recognize that.
I'm interested in your perspective on how the Reconnaissance mission compares to airline flying. I've done both and believe I have a pretty good working knowledge of each.

Apparently we don't have pilots interviewing, hiring, and making the final say so on hiring of pilots.....WTF? It would be an honor to fly with a Dragonlady driver. But, oh joy, I get to fly with a wet behind the ears, snot-nosed bonanza instructor. Way to go United. (nothing but the best).

Well... no. The opinion within the U-2 community, is that he's one of our most highly-respected pilots.
