Not sure where that came from but the dude in question is much more a people person than me and I got the nod. Good news is that no one has been turned down in a long while from the deuce brotherhood.

If anyone gets turned down at UAL, it because THEY phucked it up. PERIOD.

Unlike Hawaiian and Southwest, United doesn’t call 30 people in just to hire 10...

When you get an interview at United, they want to hire you, that’s why you were called in.

Glad the dude got his stuff together and ended up at FDX..No pax, no Fa’s....Doesn’t sound all bad

Funny how SWA and FDX hire qualified candidates, not CFIs or underqualified minorities, or a scab offspring lying about his mil service.

Long shot here, but is that offspring's initials SB?

Current 135
5400TT
1600TPIC (135, 5-600/year)
B.S. Degree
Leadership and volunteer roles @ current company.
1600 121 SIC

Can’t afford and make it work with current situation to go to regional for 121 PIC. Could possibly swing an ULCC. Better place to hang the hat in a case of stagnation.

Would a Masters help with point scoring? It’s a long game as it will take 2 yrs to complete.

Thanks for the input.

In my experience non airline/military/corporate, low time guys always have the biggest issues in training. Followed distantly by single seat attack guys who’ve never seen an FMC. Especially low time GA guys who don’t have any significant jet time.

The reason being simply that they are not familiar with the speed that stuff happens in a jet. They don’t have any meaningful multi crew experience and they have not flown in high density, high traffic, complicated airspace. Everything is new for them.

I’ve seldom had a problem with experienced regional/military/corporate/heavy GA charter guys. Captain or F/O.

I’m not saying they can’t be trained but our current training footprint is not tailored to a complete newb to jet transport flying in high density airspace.
...ditto...

From what I understand, a masters degree won’t help that much with the computer scoring that is used to draw your name out of the hat for an interview. It would be a couple of extra points, but not enough to really matter. Once you are face to face with an actual person in an interview it could be a different story depending on the people conducting the interview. I’d be more impressed with a Masters in engineering than someone doing volunteer work at a charitable organization, but that’s just me.

I believe you and I work at the same company right now. I'd stay put. You already have 121 time it appears. Even SIC is good time. You have the degree which seems to be the #1 point scorer at the legacies. You've seen the tons of pilots leave our joint to go to the legacies with zero 121 time.

I think so

No don’t plan on leaving unless it’s for the Majors. Can’t do and don’t want to do it. Head down, blinders on, plow forward 😂.

Plus it’s a good place to be IMO.

Have you been directly involved in HR/Pilot Hiring at any point in your past career? If so, I'd like to know more about your insight.
