Default Class drop

What determines class seniority? Is it last 4 of your SS? Any updates on how many are in the pool?

Believe it’s now racked/stacked by furlough bypass returns (seniority date) THEN by the age of all the off street hires (oldest to youngest).

For what it’s worth, trying to coordinate a class for return from furlough and the information I got yesterday wasn’t real encouraging. Granted things can change at the drop of a hat, but I got the distinct impression from the company that there wouldn’t be any additional classes until fall.....maybe. Seriously? What’s going on that I’m overlooking? There are 400 retirements this year alone and we aren’t hiring?

The hiring/recall page hasn’t been updated so nothing to pass from there, but sources tell me we’re still running full classes through at least April before the summer rush. Welcome back!

I had a M&G this week and was told that United needs 60 a month this year, and will need to ramp up to 100 a month next year.

Is it true that there typically is a summer drawdown from training & then ramps up again in the fall?

Have spoken with some of your crews who thought they would keep some training going, due to the numbers required to hire/train.

Thoughts?

All I know is that I have been in contact with a pilot hiring coordinator and the info I got is that there are no additional classes planned until fall. And even then, they stated “possibly fall”. The only advice I was given was to keep checking the UAL Flying Together website for any additional class dates. Who knows. It doesn’t surprise me with UAL as they constantly are adjusting their plan and half the time the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing. Very frustrating, but it’s on me for not going back sooner. Time will tell and will have to just wait and see.....
