We have all been there and it’s a bit stressful. Keep your chin up, stay positive no matter what. And rest assured we want to see you on the line!

Cheers,
Biff

Thanks Hilltopper

RSV is not completely junior in GUM for a number of reasons. Not senior, but the bottom few guys typically get forced lines of multiple leg overnight flying. It depends on the month, but holding a line by choice begins around 75%.

The flying is different out here and the main division is whether you fly days or nights. Flying during the day is a pretty senior (around 8500 and up) position, which is a little below the 50% mark. As a small base the movement is slow. New hires should expect to be junior for a long time.

What do you mean by a number of pilots desire it? Seeing unfilled spots on this previous vacancy tells me that any of those pilots who desire it could have had it by now.

All I am saying is it’s been historically desirable.

Gotcha. Didn’t know if you were implying that people still want it be out there but not willing to go out being junior and on reserve or just as you said, historically speaking.

Recently, on a United flight from LAX to SYD, a relative was chit-chatting to the purser. They discuss the industry, future pilot hiring needs, etc. On the pilot hiring side, the purser advises to start throwing apps in at 500 hours to get on the radar. When the relative told me this, I sorta nodded and said "oh cool, yeah!" In my mind, I was thinking "WTF?"

Is there really any point in that?
