This makes the most sense. Maybe that little trip to Toulouse pulled more weight than expected. Let's face it, the Max10 is not going to get certified this year so maybe UA cut a deal with Airbus/Spirit/Jetblue for their Airbus.

This isn't as complicated as some of you are making it out to be. All of the growth numbers and pilot hiring were based on a delivery plan that just isn't going to happen. United is expecting a 40% reduction in deliveries for at least 2024 and 2025 and likely longer, a slowing of hiring is to be expected as a result. The airline is still growing and still hiring at a historically rapid pace. Did anyone actually believe all the pie in the sky numbers coming from management?

With a CJO in February, and the delays in training for May and June what is a reasonable time frame to start class? Really hoping for July but not really sure now. I am just looking to plan for ahead for the what lies ahead. Thanks

Say it’s impossible long enough & eventually you’ll be right. When I was hired onto a 12K deep seniority list 10 years ago the “pie in the sky” claim was 16K pilots & 5 year upgrades. Many laughed & called it company kool-aid then, too. (I’ll admit my own skepticism.)

Obviously their “Plan A” is extremely aggressive & is based on no speed bumps- of which this Boeing development is certainly the first significant one post-COVID. How impactful it will be & what else may complicate long-term planning remains to be seen. I’m not saying nothing can stand in the way of UAL’s success, but after the growth of the past decade, you can’t really claim their targets are just fantasy, either.

I waited 4 months from CJO to class without any pauses. To play it safe, I’d guess August? Again, totally a guess and I could be wrong
