Not really... we do the same during Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year. Increase in flying, vacations etc.

yeah but why in the summer……The instructors aren’t usable on the line. And then max out capacity again 2 months later? Makes no sense.

only logical explanation is that they are doing some sort of training reset. New curriculum? New foot print? New training footprint for NH CAs?

Instructors take vacations over the summer. Plus possibly doing what they try do to over winter break - get more CA upgrade classes in. They know how to utilize all the slots pretty good.

July has 5 tuesdays.

270 = 54 per class

It would be interesting to see what percentage of TK instructor time and sim time is dedicated to new hires as opposed to recurrent, fleet switches and upgrades. A few extra upgrade classes and open season for May/June vacation would probably soak up most of that labor excess

a few years ago when we had a massive IOE backlog they slowed hiring for a month in order to train LCPs.

I guess they could use the 2 months to train all the IEs who want to fly as CA…..just get that training over with. I was wondering how they were going to fit that provision into the training pipeline….maybe this is it?

I have no inside info- just thinking aloud. Maybe they are subbing new hires for for fleet switches if we are no getting the 737 order that was intended. Could they retrain some 373 folks to the bus?

Question No class for 2 months?

New hire awaiting class here. Anybody in training that can confirm or refute no classes in May/June? The rumor mill on our end was saying class in may.

Someone from HFPD? I doubt it, because first, it's not true, and second, they probably wouldn't tell their buddies who they thought would then go scurry over to APC to talk about it.
