Completely agree. And it’s good to be proactive now than reactive later on

Ridiculous. Now 15 more people will read your fiction and tell others that they "heard a rumor."

Unless your buddies are in manpower planning then nobody knows for sure. I understand your concern since I think I saw you mention that you have a mid April class date. They haven’t even started assigning people into May class dates and beyond. So, even if the rumors are true, you are in a different boat. There’s a big difference between canceling or postponing an already scheduled class date (April classes) and simply not running classes as originally planned (May and beyond). Sure it stinks for people with a CJO who are anxiously waiting for a date. However, having to wait longer for a date is a lot better than having an already scheduled date yanked out from under you on short notice.

A brand new vacancy bid just dropped today with continued upgrades and FO vacancies on the 737. The class that started today had mostly 737 offerings in both seats. The train may slow a bit temporarily, but it certainly hasn’t derailed yet.

also, according to the Min/Max , there are 1000 more CAs on the 737 than FOs. So we need to hire ATLEAST that many.

Excellent points, absolutely. I didn't know that May - July classes haven't been scheduled yet. You're right, there's certainly a difference between cancelling scheduled dates and simply not announcing new dates...

This came from TK, we’ll see soon enough.

It’s to set realistic expectations.

here’s the thing the taining department at United is exceedingly expensive to operate and it doesn’t get cheaper if it’s turned off….the cost is the same….if not more. The instructors can’t be flexed to the line to help with summer staffing like some other airlines. Sure they can be given more fly days but then they go out and buy trips from line holders. Thise line holders can choose to stay home with pay or fly at 200%. That doesn’t help staffing and makes costs go up for line flying.

i think United needs to reduce their hiring, and I think they will, but we’re still talking about 1500+ pilots. It would be very short sighted, and that is one thing Kirby isn’t, to stop running NH classes for the summer. They should just run a few months of 100 there is no reason to be cramming 200 a month through if you do t have too. Make some wiggle room……

I have no doubt that SOME HFPD instructors were told they are not needed for a few months. But I will eat my words, and quite frankly be concerned, if NH classes stop. We are FAR from being staffed with a 1000 FO deficit on the 737 alone with new WB and NB coming in, with a couple 320 retirements.
