There are reasons to not want Guam other than an inadequately adventurous disposition.
As with any other base. Which is why so many people commute in CONUS.

Thats a pretty unlikely scenario for a 25 year old guy/gal.

Hell yeah, how do you think desert islands got coconut trees? They float in on the beach. Volcanic islands aren't born with them.

What, that they have a child? Who could have down syndrom or tetralogy of fallot or something bland like cystic fibrosis

Or a wife who's in medical school?

Likely? No. Bizarre? No.

You literally just agreed with him at the end. Everyone understands your point…and you’re being obtuse.

Sure there are any number of reasons a person wouldn’t want the base- which is fine- I was just responding specifically to your comment that you’d only do it if you were young & single. If you’ve ever been based on the island you’ll know that doesn’t reflect the reality of the base. Plenty of relocated families out there who prefer it to the CONUS bases specifically because of its unique scheduling & how much more time it gives them to spend with their kids.

Obviously it’s not a fit for everyone, but my point is that to the appeal to families is actually one of the reasons we haven’t seen unfilled CA vacancies on the island.

Hope this doesnt come off the wrong way. Im genuinely confused seeing people talk about how theres open CA vacancies and hiring is crazy right now. Im a 121 Check Airman at a regional, 1000+ tPIC, ALPA volunteer, NGPA, WiA, LPA, OBAP. I dont have any skeletons in the closet, yet im still not getting the Hogan, or anything from DL. Im a little discouraged and in disbelief when it seems 0 time FO's are getting called and I have just about every aviation job requirement box ticked and im hearing nothing. Any recommendations dudes?
