There's been CA slots in every class since the new contract was ratified. The last vacancy that closed had ~180 unfilled CA bids which will be passed onto new hires. The currency open vacancy has 220+ unfilled CA bids. CA bids have gone all the way down to the 8 ball at least once, and the 2nd most junior person in the class (the 7 ball? 15 ball???) multiple times. Bottom line is they aren't going away any time soon!

I'm in a class that starts relatively soon and have seen that the most recent classes are heavy on IAH and ORD 737s (I'm not elibile for new hire CA). I'll be commuting to either of those options and the commutes seem relatively similar (4ish hours with 4 flights per day). Only difference is that the times into and out of ORD seem slightly more commutable. Assuming I'm not able to get another base, are there any big differences that would make me want to lean one way or the other between these 2 options

Hopefully, the MCO rumor is also true, It would be nice to see us move in on the "yellow tail".

Still sucks for them. We shouldn’t be forcing NHs to GUM. Especially since they’re not starting at 2nd year pay, they are staying at 1st year pay so they have the opportunity to bid out and not be stuck there. The second year pay is what the company wants you to take so they can freeze you. Know your contract folks.
If you don't know the history of this place, Guam 727 Flight Engineer was the junior seat for Continental for years. Part of the interview was, "Would you go to Guam?"
god damn right you said "yes!"
Sometimes you took the job, because it was a good job or the only one you were offered, not like now.
